About two month ago my father reminded me about his collection of comic books, and i remembered it too that his collection of comics is super awesome, there are almost three 2 meter high cabinet filled with classic Indonesian’s comic book.

But after time went by, we don’t know how to preserve comic the right way, one by one the collection is destroyed by humidity and reading bugs :(

it’s a sad day for me and my dad the day that mom had to throw away our comic book. Nevertheless time gone by, we tried no to regret it.

Later, after my dad reminded me, me & my wife made a pact that we shall bought him the comic book that he had before, one by one. Since then we bought 8 comics book, it’s far from his total collection he once had before, but it’s a start.

The comic author that we got is R.A Kosasih, and the price is significantly higher than the first time we bough it’s around Rp,400. Now the price is Rp,35,000 to 85,000 (3,5 – 8,5 USD). We have a couple of more that we want to buy but i want to postponed it.

The publisher of the comic book, doesn’t use royalty system for the comic, so the comic author doesn’t get any penny after it was bought (i read it somewhere in Kompas newspaper), It’s been forty years and the comic still republished, i’m quite ashamed of the system, because in my opinion RA. Kosasih has the same status like Stan Lee did in US comic books .

the hand drawn for the comic is very classic, all of the story that brought by R.A Kosasih is around the epic of Mahabarata. He take the middle story of many version of the story trough his comic.

honestly i haven’t read it all, in the old days i read it all but i was kid back then so i dont really understand what the story is about.

Right now i read half of the comic and felt this comic is LOL :D and you can’t complaint about the quality of the comic, it’s a reprinted edition from 40 years ago. it’s full of awesomeness in my childhood, maybe i’ll post the content in the future post.

This month my biggest time waster is not a game or facebook but daily funny pictures site. I once post about imagechan last january and i happen to find it up again while stumbling. Since then i get addicted again, there’s more site that offer similar daily funny pictures like imagechan, like EatLiver.com and Nanobooru.

Be warned by this sites, they are sometimes could show very very offensive pictures but still SFW (safe for work), here are a funny image from Imagechan.

last is from Nanobooru, u know that funny comic from korea? where the people get shot and yet they manage to get married and etc, found the comic collection there and some of them are translated, here is one of them.

after answering 19 question from My Blog Value, i get a very huge number :D well it took me by surprise, hell i even put 0 (zero) on the income of this blog and put my alexa ranking 2,431,755 just to make it low. guess what? my site is estimated worth around USD $108,130. Men, i’ll sell this site right away for the first person who offer me this :D

I dont know what kind of method they use for estimating the blog (beside answering my question), but i’m sure happy with the result :D

Two weeks ago, I’ve gone to the Jakarta 4th Toys n Comic fair which is a very pleasant event. The event took place in tennis indoor Senayan in Central Jakarta. Even though its only a two size of tennis field, it took me more than three hour to look all of the toys there.

What i really like about the fair is, there is a wide variety of action figure. Starting from Dragon Ball, Saint Seiya, Gundam, Spawn, DC Superheroes, Marvell Superheroes, One Piece, Transformer etc. oh yeah there’s even a Tom and Jerry Figurine.

The price range from around a dollar to USD$300 a piece. like this classic super robot Voltes V which cost around USD$145

I bought 3 three shirt and 3 Ultraman Monster!!! I was looking for Ultraman Monster for along time, now i get to bought for less than $1. What i really really love about the monster is that it’s really really ugly(even my wife hate the idea of me buying it). I dont take the pictures yet, i’ll update it soon in my next post.

What i really regret about the event is that I dont prepare enough dough for the event and i dont took a lot of pictures.

Looking for an entry class SLR gives me a quite headache :) The Body itself it’s cheap (from $450 to $800), but the following stuff that i need to buy, its amazes me. As a newbie i’d like to start with the body first.

after a lot of readings i think the best SLR that suits me is Canon Digital Rebel XSI aka Canon 450D. But there are two issues that makes this a hard choice to make… The Release of this Product is April 15th (Based on Amazon) and the the other issue is, the body itself will cost around $800.

Well the first issue is I hate waiting, It’s basically two month from now until i can get my hands on the camera. All of the waiting could make loose my saving for buying the camera. i’m going to move to another place to live on april 1st. That could means unexpected expenses. but i’m positive that patience will benefit me in the end.

Do I need more readings in choosing? i think not, the camera sell itself with is features. it have the two main features that i need, a good ISO handling (my assumption is based Canon 400D review) and (at last) a live view. My first look was Olympus E-510, Nikon D40X and Canon 400D.

The Nikon D40X was cheap but there’s no built-in focus drive motor which means there’s no auto focus unless it uses lens with its own motor. Nevertheless this camera is still a nice choice, because i believe the after sales of the product in my place is great and i have many friends that used Nikon SLR.

My doubt on Olympus E-510 is because i had virtually no friends that uses Olympus SLR and based on the pictures from flickr camera finder, i think the new Canon 450D (based on the 400D) is the best deal for me.

The Second Issue is the body itself will cost around 800 bucks! Well this could be a problem if i want to buy lenses. my choice is Tamron 28-75 or Canon 18-55IS. all i know Tamron cost around 300+ bucks, that means it’s passed my budget limit which is $900 and that leave me a choice of using the canon 18-55IS. If my calculation is right i still may exceed the budget limit, I still have to buy lens cover, Bags and 2Gigs of SD card, and that will push me up $50 more. The total budget that i need seeing this expenses is around $950. Let just hope that i don’t left anything out.

There’s something funny about the people and the reading materials that helps me in choosing an SLR. My friends & relatives tells me to buy a Nikon brand for an SLR despite for whatever reason and for whatever type it is. but from what i’ve read and see, it’s like all over the world is using Canon!! i’m not joking here, based on Flickr camera finder, the number one brand is Canon Rebel XTi 400D followed with the 350D.

After three days reading dpreview, I still can’t make a decision on what kind of camera i should buy.
There’s a couple conditions that limit me in choosing a camera

1. The Maximum Price Range is $900 to $1000 (That’s include the lens kit)
2. The camera should handle Indoor Lighting well
3. The Camera should have a good Noise Reduction when I use High ISO
4. The Camera should have a nice “out of the box” setting, so if i’m in a hurry i don’t need to set the camera too much
5. Last but not least, it should have a great after sales services

Seeing the conditions that limit me like “the nice out of the box” setting in buying a camera, i know i should just buy a pocket camera not an SLR.

At first i was thinking in buying a SLR-like Canon G9 camera or an SLR Olympus E-510. but i want to review again on my choice.
For a couple of days now i read all the review from dpreview on non SLR camera and i notice a couple cameras that fits to my conditions. The ones that i particularly like is Canon G9, Fujifilm Finepix F50fd and Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ8K.

I was peeking Canon G9 for along time, because my friends own Canon G7 and the result pictures are great. But there’s a negative voice on the dpreview about it couldn’t handle High ISO really well. That means i have to manually set for night lighting environment, and that the one that i was hoping to avoid.

For FujiFinepix F50d is highly recommended by dpreview, but i have doubt on myself because seeing the sample pictures compared with the older Finepix F31d, it look strange in variety ISO Setting.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ8 had enormous zoom capability (12X!!!) and based on the pictures samples that provided from dpreview, it look great but at night mode the noise looks plaguing. but i’m sure there’s nothing that a photoshop can’t do, as long as it look sharp and repairable.

For all i know i’m still considering an SLR like camera or SLR camera. It’s quite hard in choosing, considering i had limited budget (<$1000) for a long term plan.

btw i'm still a newbie here on photography world, my choice is based on reading not experiencing it, but with the help of my friends who understands more, i'm hoping that i could get a good choice of camera.

There’s some difficulty too when i’m asking my friends or relatives in choosing a good camera, Most of them are brand minded. But they do have common things on the topic, They dont other brands to compare, they only have a single brand cameras, some of them have more than one brands and that’s the one that i trust.

I think i’m going to look around on SLR thats fits with my budget.

Having a digicam (not so new, i bought it last year) brings new meaning of life for me, rather than finding an interesting object to shoot. I shoot everyday activity.

What makes me happy is that i start noticing my surrounding, the place what i considered is pretty ugly, is different in a new way, my everyday activity felt more adventurous every time i go to to the office with my friends (we rides a motorcycle).

Even the street where i grow-up looks great, look different.

It makes me appreciate small things in life. Sometimes you need to look carefully to what is given to you to be more grateful to what you have.

if the picture u see isn’t beautiful for u, maybe it’s just me being sentimental :) and maybe because my camera was just Canon PowerShot A530 5MP :P

nonetheless, i know i still had a lot to learn in photography, one of the site that i think provide great value for newbie learning is Lorelle and Brent VanFossen camera on the road

ps:
I think i’m going to buy an DSLR camera with a live view (LCD Preview), what i had in mind is Olympus Evolt E510 10MP

or a semi SLR like Canon PowerShot G9 12.1MP
.
But judging by its price, i may buy it in couple month ahead, i need to save money first.
